Cat lovers, all.
Founded by Jacki Myers in 2025, Neko Node Foundation really started when a connection on social media sent a message in 2024: “Do you know any place that can take 3 young cats for a few months while their people find stable housing?” That set off a chain of events leading to those cats joining Jacki’s household for a few months. They integrated easily with the resident kitties and everyone was sad to see them leave when the time came, but happy the family was together again. That experience exposed the lack of support for folks and their cats in housing challenges.
Next came the realization that, while families and friends may want to take in the pets when someone enters hospice or dies, it is simply not always possible. Jacki’s work in the non-public facing side of deathcare exposed her to the reality of the unnecessary stress imposed on the dying individual, who needs reassurance that their pets will be cared for, and the friends and family who will honor that wish but face hurdles in an already fraught time.
